Arts in the Park to go on rain or shine
The Morristown Art Association doesn’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
And the way the wind is blowing means the seventh annual Arts in the Park celebration, set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Morristown, will go on come rain or shine.
Peggy Brewer, event chairman, said Friday that she has confirmed with many of the artists and vendors that the event is a go despite an 80 percent chance of rain.
“We will all be there,” she said. “I would suggest people bring umbrellas … There’s a paved walkway all around the park, so nobody’s feet have to get muddy.”
Arts In The Park is a one-day celebration of visual and performing arts—two-dimensional fine art, artistic photography, and sculpture, theatre, music, and dance for Morristown Art Association Member artists, as well as other local visual artists, to showcase, display, sell, and demonstrate two-dimensional fine art, artistic photography, and sculpture.
Local music and theatre groups perform on two stages and throughout the park. Fine art, exciting live performances, fine food and refreshments, demonstrations and workshops, an art walk, “try your hand at art,” sidewalk chalk art, and children’s activities will add to the festival’s appeal.
Admission is free.
Arts In The Park is an event of the Morristown Art Association, Morristown Parks and Recreation, and Rose Center and Council for the Arts.
