Hawk guilty of misdemeanor reckless endangerment
A Greene County Criminal Court jury found State Rep. David Hawk guilty of misdemeanor reckless endangerment in connection with a March 2012 involving his ex-wife, Greeneville attorney Crystal Goan.
Senior Judge Paul Summers is scheduled to sentence Hawk on Halloween. The 45-year-old Republican Party legislator indicated he will appeal.
Following 10 hours of deliberation, the jury was unable to come to a unanimous conclusion on a misdemeanor assault charge. Prosecutor Joe Baugh indicated he will not retry Hawk on the assault charge.
For more details about the trial, the jury deliberations and the federal civil prosecution that may have tainted Goan’s credibility, read the Friday edition of the Citizen Tribune.
