JANICE LILLARD ADKINS
Janice Lillard Adkins, age 76, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at her home from a short term illness.
Janice was born July 23, 1937 in Morristown, Hamblen County to Swann Lillard and Fannie Felknor Lillard. She was married to the late Roger Adkins.
Besides her former husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Swann Lillard; her mother, Fannie Felknor Lillard; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Lillard and an infant daughter, Swannanna Adkins.
Janice graduated from Morristown High School and furthered her education at Carson-Newman College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in teaching. After 40 years of service in public education, Janice retired from The National Education Association, The Tennessee Education Association and The Hamblen County Education Association.
She was a member of the Samuel Doak Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Regent. She was also a member of the General Federated Women’s Club in Morristown. Ms. Adkins was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Morristown.
Janice is survived by an aunt, Edna Felknor Gray; special cousins, Jason Pack and wife, Martha; Sarah Elizabeth Pack, James Noah Pack and Rebecca Caroline Pack and a host of other cousins; a special friend and caregiver, Sheila Wisecarver; caregiver, Sharon Long and friends, Marion Keith and Carol Peterson who also assisted her during her illness.
Graveside service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens with the Rev. Danny Georges officiating.
Pallbearers will be Scott Felknor, Randy Felknor, Don Gray, Edgar Gray, Mark Price and Clay Robertson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

EARNEST ‘DWAYNE’ DEARING
Earnest “Dwayne” Dearing, age 55, of Sneedville, went to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. He was saved at the age of 9 and joined Livesay’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Kyles Ford.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Perry and Cora Livesay and Will and Callie Dearing; nephew, Cory Johnson and mother-in-law, Virgie Minor.
He is survived by the love of his life, Judy Minor Dearing; two loving daughters, Autumn (Josh) Collins and Candy (Kenny) Lamb; the apples of his eye, his granddaughters, Kenzy and Kelby Lamb; parents, Elsie and Earnest “Hunk” Dearing; father-in-law, Cliff Minor, whom he loved dearly; sisters, Tammy (Dennis) Crider and Zonna (Frank) Gilbert; brother, Dale (Vickie) Dearing; brother-in-law, Claude (Rita) Minor; sister-in-law, Pat (Dowell) Mahan; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special family members, Sherry Ingle and David Johnson; special friends, Wayne and Michelle McDaniel and many more friends too numerous to mention.
Dwayne was always most willing to help his community when called on. We all loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2 at the Faith Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Sneedville (Back Valley Rd.) with the Rev. Alonzo Collins, Rev. Jerry Bledsoe and the Rev. Doug Livesay officiating.
Special music will be provided by Homeward Bound. Interment will follow in the Greene-Minor Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne McDaniel, Eddie Collins, Jason Collins, Davy Greene, Shannon Davis, Jamie Davis, Eddie Dearing, Shannon Lawson and Jordan Trent

CARL DAVENPORT JR.
Carl Davenport, Jr., 71, of Greeneville, passed away Saturday.
He and his wife, Barbara, were owners of Tri State Auto Glass in Jonesborough, Morristown and Franklin, N.C., until their retirement in 2010.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

ROBERT L. ‘BOB’ GREENE
Robert L. “Bob” Greene, age 81, of Sevierville, formerly of Morristown, and Danville, Ill., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013. He was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church. Recently, he received his 60 year pin with the IBEW Local #538 and received his 50 year plaque with the Anchor Masonic Lodge #980. He was also a member of the Eustis Elks Lodge #1578 in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sadie Greene.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jeanne Greene; children, Rita (Joe) Hutson, Gregory A. Greene, Kate (Michael) Rife, and Julia (Robert) Watson; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the services.

Lucille M. Holt, age 86, of the Horse Creek Community passed away Friday afternoon Aug. 30, 2013 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and the Rev. Lynn Neas, Paulette and E.C. Reed Jr. of Morristown, Sheila Scott, Leisa and Tim Hopson; one son, Reece Holt; grandchildren and spouses, Spence and Paige Neas, Zak and Kim Neas, Josh and April Neas, Daniel Reed of Morristown, Matt Scott, Jacob Hopson and fiancé Amanda Nuckols, Cory and Amanda Hopson, Lauren and Jonathon Gunter, Whitney and Cain Hill; great-grandchildren, Cody Neas, Seth Neas, Jessica Neas, Channing and Brandon Bolton, Drew Neas, Eli Neas, Grace Elizabeth Reed, Calyssa Scott, Bryson Broyles, Ellie Kate Hill; two great-great-grandchildren, Bailey Graham and Serenity Bolton; several extended family and special friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Holt; parents, Tom and Irene Gray Wilhoit; sister, Billie Jo Shelton.
She was a member of the Union Chapel F.W.B. Church, where she was the “Walk-a-thon Queen” raising a lot of money for foreign missions. She retired from Magnavox after 41 years. The love of her life was her children and grandchildren. Her door was always open and smells of country cooking were always in the air. She loved the outdoors, gardening, her home, family, and community.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Maynard Austin and his nurse Teresa.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Union Chapel F.W.B. Church with the Rev. JACKSON TIPTON JONES
Jackson Tipton Jones, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013.
He was predeceased by his Birmingham born and bred wife of 65 years, Sarah (Sally) Louise McKinnley Jones.
Surviving him are his children, Sam and Dottie Jones, Lulie and Herbert Thomas, Laetitia (Tish) and Alex Rom-Roginski, Sarah Jones; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of an old East Tennessee family through his predeceased parents, Mary Byrd Browder and Oliver King Jones, and his predeceased brothers, Oliver King, Jr., and Newton Browder.
He is survived by his 98 year-old brother, John M. (Arne) of Greeneville.
Mr. Jones served his God through his extended service with First Presbyterian Church, where he was named Elder Emeritus, his family through involvement with community affairs, and a proud recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, and his country as a thrice combat wounded veteran of World War II, while serving in the South Pacific as an infantryman for three years.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church where the memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, followed by additional visitation.

Thomas M. Jones, age 58, of Morristown, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013. He was a very well-loved and respected man by everyone who knew him. He was a CPA with Craine, Thompson, and Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; son, Timothy Jones of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Carrie (Alex) Trexler of Knoxville; parents, Hiram and Lois Jones; brother, Ronnie; sister, Mira (James) Craine and their children, Matt (Kristin), Bowe, and Abbe all of Morristown; in-laws, Vance and Maxine Walker of Maryville and 10 other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at Alpha Baptist Church with Dr. Terry Kirby officiating and receiving of family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Susan Ann Lawson, age 34, of Sneedville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013.

KENNETH GORDON McMURRY
Kenneth Gordon McMurry, age 83, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at the Heritage Center. He was of the Baptist faith and worked at Berkline for 43 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 5266.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin McMurry; mother and step-father, Maggie and Claude Smith; and brothers, Connie, Lester, and Verlin McMurry.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline McMurry; daughter, Teresa (Dwayne) McMurry Lawson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Dr. Larry Parrott will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 2 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday prior to the services.

Jeanette Perry Parker, 71, of Bean Station, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a faithful member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Bean Station.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Parker; parents, Dennis and Ethel Perry and a son, Dennis Parker; sisters, Perlie Dalton, Mae Broyles, Cecil Perry; brothers, Creed, John and Ed Perry.
She is survived by her children, Anita (Stanley “Bo”) Mallory, Lisa Parker of Bean Station, Scott (Tina) Parker of Morristown; grandchildren, Amanda (Troy) Smith, Chad Mallory, Paige and Aaron Amos, Kevin and Logan Parker; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Mallory, Peyton, Makenzie Smith and Landen Mallory; sister at heart, Marie Dalton; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Jeremy Douglas “Bear” Price, age 22, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a member of Manley Baptist Church and a 2010 graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School West.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Louise and Lowell Hale, Sr.
He is survived by his parents, Steve and Serina Price; brothers, Michael (Erica) Owens, Dustin Price and girlfriend, Tiffany Kociban, and Dylan Price; grandparents, Stanley and Fioretta Price and Lowell, Jr. and Sheila Hale; great-grandparents, Earl and Linda Marshall; aunt, Dena (Michael) Jordan; uncles, Mike (Sandy) Price and Mark Hale; nephew, Zachary Price; girlfriend, Savannah Leshea; and several great-aunts, cousins, and friends.

James E. Stevenson, age 76, of Morristown, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. He was a member of Agape Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Mullins; and two granddaughters, Natashia Mitchell and Isabel Ann-Marie Mitchell.

ALBERT ‘LEON’ UNDERWOOD SR.
Albert “Leon” Underwood, Sr. went to be with his heavenly Father on Aug. 30, 2013 after he fought a courageous battle with cancer. A member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Leon was the former owner/operator of Lakeview Market & Deli in Jefferson City. Leon was a loving and devoted Husband, Daddy and Papaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Frank Lewelling and loving son-in-law, Mark Reed. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Diana. Loving and devoted daughters, Pam Chesney (Tim) and Angie Reed both of Knoxville, Lori Penton of Lenoir City and a wonderful and devoted son, Leon, Jr., “Bub,” and loving and devoted daughter-in-law, Mona Underwood; grandchildren, Josh Toney, Tyler Simpson, Jacob and Malynn Penton, Madison and Alli Reed and great-grandchildren, Landon and Rylan Toney; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Brenda Lewelling.
Leon touched many lives and has made many lasting and loving friendships. He has a wonderful church family whom he loved. Leon will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
