Gatlinburg Christ centered museum to host God & Country exhibit
GATLINBURG – Guests are invited to experience a new exhibition, “America’s God & Country,” this summer at Christ in the Smokies Museum & Gardens, Gatlinburg’s inspirational family attraction.
The new exhibit features two large paintings by Curator Mark Pedro. George Washington praying in Valley Forge is featured in one painting and Abraham Lincoln reading the Holy Bible in the other. Along with the paintings are quotes concerning the Bible, God, and faith from our founding fathers and various modern presidents.
The display begins with a quote from Benjamin Franklin, “God governs in the affairs of men,” and ends with President Reagan’s famous quote, “If we forget we are one nation under God, we will be a Nation gone under.”
The exhibit enhances the experience of this world-class museum of the Bible that includes more than 100 life-sized figures that tell the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Music, special effects and narration bring each scene to life for museum visitors.
The tour ends in a beautiful meditation garden, which houses the Smokies’ most photographed object, the amazing Face of Christ sculpture. The eyes of Christ in the sculpture appear to follow the viewer’s every move. There are also collections of ancient coins, gems, biblical artifacts, reconstructions of the Ark of the Covenant and temple treasures.
Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the summer. Groups and individuals may call 865-436-5155 for specific dates, time and admission prices.
