C-N awards faculty with recognition
Carson-Newman University recently held its annual Faculty and Staff Community Honors Banquet in the university’s Stokely Memorial Cafeteria.
C-N Human Resources Coordinator Becky Boatright received the 2013 S.O.A.R. Award, which is the highest award given to a staff member and recognizes an individual who exhibits excellence in job performance and a positive spirit.
C-N Communications Department Chair Dr. Mark Borchert and assistant art professor Lisa Flanary received the Mossy Creek Teacher-Scholars Award, which includes a $2,500 grant, for their project, “Full Frame Experience: Documentary Festival Research.”
C-N biology instructor Susan Karr received the Research Award for her work authoring an extended edition of the textbook, “Environmental Science for a Changing World.”
The Creativity Award was presented to associate English professor Dr. Bethany White for authoring a collection of poetry and for her contributions to literary journals.
C-N Bonner Center Director Dr. Nicole Saylor accepted the Mentoring Award for her help developing a federal work study program, recruiting the inaugural class of the school’s Faith and Justice Scholars and her involvement with the school’s quality enhancement plan, “C-Nvolved.”
Assistant professor of religion Dr. Chad Hartsock was given the Academic Advising Award for officiating East Tennessee high school athletics, ministry with the youth at area churches and involvement with C-N’s first-year orientation program.
