UT’s Arboretum Society to hold annual Spring Plant sale

The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society will hold its 46th annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UT Arboretum on 901 S. Illinois Ave. (Highway 62) in Oak Ridge.

 The “Members Only” sale will be on Friday evening, April 19, from 5-7 p.m. Memberships may be purchased at that time.

 The Society will be offering plants with colorful foliage or flowers. Selections will include (but not be limited to) Crape Myrtle, Vitex, Encore Azalea, Hardy Gardenia, Hydrangea and Loropetalum.

 Plant vendors offering flowering trees, shrubs, perennials, wildflowers and edibles include Beaver Creek and Riverdale nurseries from Knoxville, Sunlight Gardens from Andersonville and East Fork Nursery from Sevierville.

 Razzelberry’s Ice Cream Lab will be selling sandwiches and ice cream.

 Retired UT horticulture professor Dr. Will Witte will resume his role as the “Answer Man” and will be selling books from his personal horticulture library.

 The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society is a 48-year-old, non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the objectives and programs of the UT Forest Resources AgResearch and Education Center’s 250-acre Arboretum in Oak Ridge.
