GATLINBURG – The Gatlinburg Regional Bridge Tournament will be held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center April 15-21. With over 9,000 tables in play, the tournament is one of the largest bridge tournaments in the world, bringing players from as far away as Poland and China.
“Gatlinburg has become part of the ‘Rites of Spring’ within the bridge world,” said Julia Misslin, tournament co-chair. “The top-level bridge play combined with the hospitality and beautiful scenery in Gatlinburg is no doubt what draws so many here every year.”
While visiting Gatlinburg, players hope to return home with master points – the metric of accomplishment in the world of bridge – but with the city’s first-class lodging, dining and sightseeing options, all will take home fond memories of America’s favorite and largest regional bridge tournament.
A sanctioned tournament of the American Contract Bridge League, the Gatlinburg Regional is passionate about doing their part to grow the next generation of bridge players. Saturday, April 20 will be Junior Day, and all new players age 10 to 18 play for free.
The American Contract Bridge League, the largest bridge organization in the world, serves 165,000 members, 3,200 bridge clubs and sanctioning 1,100 sectional and regional tournaments annually. The ACBL’s three North American Bridge Championships each attract up to 5,000 players representing every state in the United States, Canada and about 20 other foreign countries.
