NEWPORT— The East High Lady Hurricane softball team defeated the Lady Red of Cocke County 16-5 Thursday.
East recorded 17 hits with Erin Roper leading the Lady ‘Cane attack going 4-4 at the plate with two RBI’s and a double. Rachel Cutshaw and Ashli Rogers each went 3-5 with Rogers picking up a triple and Cutshaw picked up 3 RBI’s. Tori Buchanan and Kiersten Honeycutt rounded out the batting for the Lady ‘Canes with Buchanan going 3-4 for 3 RBI’s and Honeycutt going 2-4 with 2 RBI’s.
Ashli Rogers picked up the win.
