SANDRA WILLIAMS BALLARD
Sandra Williams Ballard, died at her home on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Sandra was born in Wilmington, N.C. on Oct. 10, 1940.
She was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In 1964 she married G.R. Ennis III. Son, Randy, was born in 1967. In 1986, Sandra married Francis Gene Ballard. In 1995, she retired from the Wilmington Star News after 25 years. In 1996, Sandra and Francis moved to Tennessee residing at 4737 Highway 66 Sneedville, TN 37869 in Sneedville.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Laura and Wilbur Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Ballard and stepdaughters, Paula and Renata; sister, Dale Kyber; son, Randy and his wife, Wendy; also several dearly beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephew and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Rogersville Seventh Day Adventist Church on Saturday, March 23 at 3 p.m.
Pastors Sean Reed and David Brass will be officiating.The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Fund.

Frances Carthell “Thell” Cadman, 82, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of New Market, passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at her home, surrounded by loving family.
Frances is preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Cadman.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. Cadman; son, William Cadman and wife, Kimberly; granddaughter, Kassandra and great-granddaughter, Samantha Rose Carthell Cadman of Grayslake, Ill.; daughter, Terri Cadman and partner, Martha Cummins also of New Market; grandson, Eric Cadman and wife, Barbie; great-grandsons, Cody and Ryan Cadman of Morristown; granddaughter, Aimee Carpenter and two great-grandchildren of Northport, Fla; sister, Jean Hare and husband, Charlie of Ponca City, Ok.
A private family service will be held at the family home in New Market on Saturday, March 23 with the Rev. Sherrie Foulk of All Saints Episcopal Church in Morristown presiding. Although her family will sorely miss her, there is joy in our hearts that she is home in the arms of Jesus.

Randall S. “Randy” Collins, age 47, of Morristown, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

WILLIAM JACK DYER
William Jack Dyer, age 73, of Rutledge, went home to be with the Lord after an extended illness March 20, 2013. He was retired from the U.S. Post office and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 1958 class of Central High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Hazel Dyer and a brother, David Dyer.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Dyer; sons, Jonathan (Amy) Dyer of Marietta, Ga., Michael (Arlene) Dyer of Miami, Fla.; daughter, Jennifer (Samuel) Herrick of Houston, Texas, stepdaughters, Angi (Brad) Dalton of Bean Station and Jaime Huffman of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Aleigha, Austin, Braden, Brianna, Elise, Noah, Savannah and William; sisters, Linda Rhoades of Knoxville and Dolores Green of Orlando, Fla. and brother, Clifford “Bud” (Gladys) Dyer of Miami, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge with the Rev. Daniel Green and the Rev. Tommy Russell officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday March 24 at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to services Saturday evening at the funeral home.

RICKY DALE HATCHER
Ricky Dale Hatcher, age 56, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his residence. He was a member of Noe’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Ricky was a retired Hamblen County 911 Dispatcher. He drove bus No. 47 for Hamblen County School System and was formerly employed by Coca Cola. He was known for his big heart and his kind and caring manner. Ricky never met a stranger and genuinely loved everyone. He especially loved fishing and cooking barbecue for his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Moore; twin sons, Bradley and Bryan Hatcher; parents, R.M. and Eula Mae Hatcher; sister, Rhonda Williams; and father and mother-in-law, Moscoe and Cora Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Hatcher; daughters, Amanda Hatcher and Abigail (Chaz) Saulsburry, all of Morristown; grandchildren, Jordan Couch of the home, Olivia Dodoo, Spencer Moore, Sydney Tompkins, Isaiah and Elijah Saulsburry and Kenley Hatcher; sisters, Glenda (Gary B.) Hicks of Sneedville and Barbara (Gary W.) Hicks of Morristown; son-in-law, Kenny Moore; and brother-in-law, Mike Williams; also several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

EUGENE HUGHETT
Eugene Hughett, 92, of Morristown went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at The Heritage Center. Eugene was born in Gastonia, N.C. on May 25, 1920.
He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he proudly achieved over 37 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School. He retired from Magnavox after many years of service, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by wife of 63 years, Pauline Cantrell Hughett; brother, Harvey Hughett and sister, Katherine Worthington.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Patty Hughett; granddaughter, Pamela Hughett; sister, Dorothy Arwood and his close friends, Pam Musick and Alice Byrd.
The family expresses their gratitude to all of the caring nurses and staff at The Heritage Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the West Chapel of Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. David Williams, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the services. The family will gather at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Hamblen Memory Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside service.

JERRY SHULTS
Jerry Lynn Shults, age 63, of Talbott, passed away from this life on Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home, after a brief battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith, having accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 41. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by BESTurnings before becoming ill.
Jerry was met on the other side by his beloved son, Travis Shults; father, Bill E. Shults; brother, Billy; and father and mother-in-law, Lloyd “Lou” and Norma McKinney.
He is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Joyce “Jodi” Shults; mother, Hattie Shults; sisters-in-law, Lavonda (Arvel) Knight, Phyllis (Jerry) Smith, Patricia (Don) Dickerson, Glenda (Doug) Hensley; a special niece and family, Cindy (Sean) Anderson, Mindy (Chris) Blanton, Tyler Watterson, and Drew and Jordyn Anderson; nieces, Sandra (Coy) Brooks, Sharon (Craig) Cloer, Sami Scarlett, Beth (Marc) Cox and Wendy (Joe) Payne; nephews, Randy Knight, Jimmy (Tami) Campbell, Johnny Scarlett, Brian (Connie) Hazelwood and Donald (Stacie) Hazelwood. Jerry served as surrogate father to many of these nieces and nephews, teaching them hunting, fishing, sports, and mechanics, and loved them all. He leaves 21 great and two great-great-nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the staff of Covenant Hospice Services, especially his nurse, Tabitha Davis, whom he came to love, and to family and friends too numerous to mention for their hard work and support these past few months.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Jerry’s long-time friend, Pastor Roy Dalton officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22 at Economy Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Douglas Vaughn, age 65, of Morristown passed away, Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013 at Terrace Estates where he resided with his wife, Jane.

Ernest Watson Jr., age 83, of Rutledge, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his residence. He was a member of Mitchell Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Geneva Watson; two brothers and three sisters. He was a loving husband, dad, and papaw.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Ethel Watson; son, Doyle Watson; his two grandchildren, Natosha Watson and Bryan Watson; special daughter-in-law, Vickie; brothers, Buford (Wendy) Watson, Lawrence (Doris) Watson, Swan (Myrtle) Watson and Harold Watson; sisters, Barbara Jean Smith, Nancy Sue (David E.) Bateman and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday March 22 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Lamb officiating.
