Rose Center displays ‘Peace Through Service’ contest entries

Throughout February, winning artwork by Hamblen County students from the Rotary Peace Through Service Art Contest was displayed in Rose Center.

In the kindergarten through second grade category, Fairview-Marguerite Elementary first-grader Keira Elias won first place, Fairview-Marguerite first-grader Kelly Soto won second place and West Elementary first-grader Mikah Barker won third place.

Fairview-Marguerite students swept the third through fifth grade category.

Fourth-grader Abraham Fores won first place, third-grader Christopher Braddock won second place and fourth-grader Kitana Elins won third place.

In the middle school category, first place went to West View Middle eighth-grader Emily Dollar, second place went to West View eighth-grader Megan Hancock and third place went to West View seventh-grader Hannah Burton.

Lincoln Heights Middle seventh-grader Ira Katigbak and West View sixth-grader Austin Odom received honorable mentions.

In the high school category, Morristown-Hamblen High School West senior Cara Watkins won first place, West High junior Damien Courtney won second place and West High sophomore Anna Thompson won third place.

West High junior Emily George and sophomore Aiden Layer received honorable mentions.

Headlines of the Day
