Get into the spirit of giving at the Dec. 6 “Café Cabaret,” presented at Walters State’s Greeneville/Greene County Campus.
The evening includes music, poetry and storytelling focused on the theme of giving. Performances begin at 6 p.m.
Admission is free. Donations will be accepted and given to the American Red Cross for use in recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
This is the third “Café Cabaret” at the campus organized by Marci Nimick, instructor of speech communications. Nimick is also a member of the Jonesborough Storytelling Guild and has released two collections of music. Nimick said the majority of people attending have had a connection to Walters State. She hopes that will change as the performances continue to grow in popularity.
“I hope word of ‘Café Cabaret’ spreads through the community and many people join us. I hope we will outgrow our venue, the cafeteria, in the spring. We would like to then move it outside to a patio area,” Nimick explained.
Individuals are welcomed to the stage as well.
“We would love to have community members volunteer to perform and share their talents. So far, we’ve had music, storytelling and poetry, but we are open to other performers,” Nimick added.
The December “Café Cabaret” will feature Saundra Kelley, Pam Miller, Sherril Miller, Stacey Jones and Jerry Burger. For more information, call Nimick at 423-585-6952.
