Morristown Engineering Department oversees city construction work
The Morristown City Engineering Department, headed by Jeff Branham, is responsible for land development, construction and maintenance support throughout the city.
Engineering design and construction of city facilities is conducted by city employees of the Morristown Public Works Department or through various consultants. Their work includes street work, which may be minor or large, sewer and drainage extensions or, when required, replacements, traffic control, groundwater control, recreational facilities and upkeep of structures such as aircraft hangars, storage buildings, and the City Center.
The city’s engineering department reviews all construction site plans for new subdivisions, businesses and other construction to ensure they meet city regulations, ordinances and standards.
The department works closely with state and federal agencies, which include the Environmental Protection Agency and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
