Citizens Bank of New Tazewell has announced that Terry Hackney was named senior vice president effective Aug. 2. His office is located at the Morristown branch, 2571 E. Morris Blvd.

“Attracting someone with Terry’s background, knowledge of the market, client relationships and leadership capabilities made him uniquely qualified for this position. We are thrilled to have him join our organization.”
Hackney, a Kentucky native, was raised in the Harrogate area of Claiborne County. He moved to the Morristown area in 1974, after serving three years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He attended Walters State Community College and then accepted a position with CIT Finance. He worked with the Bank of Commerce from 1978 to 1985 and First Tennessee from 1985 to 2012.
He holds an associate’s degree in business from WSCC and a bachelor’s degree in applied organization management from Tusculum College.
Hackney has been involved in the community as a volunteer throughout his career. He served with the Cherokee Lions Club for 25 years and is a member of the Morristown Kiwanis Club.
He has served on the board of directors of the Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter for 22 years. He is fundraising chairman and finance committee president and is a past president.
Hackney received the Spirit Award for humanitarian services in 2002 from Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.
He is married to Margie Williams Hackney. His hobbies include spending time on the lake, reading and travel.
Citizens Bank of New Tazewell was organized in 1912 with a capital stock of $12,000. The Harrogate branch was established in 1953 and moved into a new building located on Highway 25E across from Lincoln Memorial University in January 1978. In 1966, the bank’s main office was moved to its present location on South Broad Street.The Tazewell branch was opened in December 1978. The Bean Station branch opened in October 1997 and the Morristown branch opened in 2003.
In 2004, the bank changed its slogan to “World Class Banking … Hometown Service,” illustrating its mission to expand its products and service offerings to the public as it maintains focus on individual customers.
Jones was appointed as president/CEO in 2012. Serving on the board of directors are Roger A. Ball, chairman, Nan Cole, Thomas J. Harrison V, Kenneth V. Jones, Larry Lamb, Nancy Large, and William M. Russell.
