The Rogersville Arts Council will host Linda Jones, a talented, experienced and continually learning watercolorist from Louisville, KY in a four-day workshop, May 26-29. The workshop will be held at the Rogersville Playhouse (top floor of the American Legion Building), 1924 East Main Street, from 10:00am-4:00pm each day with a lunch break.
After being accepted in several juried art shows and winning honorable mentions at the state fair, she won ‘Best of Show’ and a blue ribbon with her “Chicken With An Attitude” painting, in 2003.
Linda has studied with Tom Scott at Bellermine College and Sue Huttenlocker at the Jewish Community Center, both in Louisville as well as other area artists through the Kentucky Watercolor Society. In her journey of growth in watercolor art, Linda has taken workshops with known artists from whom she has learned various techniques. From Skip Lawrence she gained depth in use of color and painting out of the box. Sandy Maudlin taught her techniques for painting on slick paper called Yupo. Recently Linda has participated in a workshop with Judi Betts studying value and beautiful, lively grays with just a touch of intense color. With Don Getz she worked with painting on gessoed paper.
Brochures, needed supply lists and catalogues are available at the Local Artists Gallery on East Main in Rogersville. The price of the workshop for 20 hours of instructions is $45. Even though the deadline to register is May 20, space is limited, so it is a good idea to sign up early.
