The Tennessee Departments of Tourist Development and Transportation, in partnership with state and local officials in ten counties throughout East Tennessee, will officially launch the Top Secret Trail – “Proton Beams to Utopian Dreams” in conjunction with the kick-off of the 10th Annual Secret City Festival.
The Top Secret Trail is the 15th of 16 self-guided driving tours in the Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways program. The trail travels 465 miles from Knoxville traveling throughout Anderson, Campbell, Clay, Fentress, Knox, Morgan, Overton, Pickett, Roane, and Scott Counties.
A trail of secrets hidden among the scenic wilds of the Upper Cumberland Plateau, the Top Secret Trail allows visitors to peruse antique shops, discover the “Secret City” of Oak Ridge and the historic utopian community of Rugby, as well as marvel at the Big South Fork sandstone bluffs.
The Top Secret Trail truly captures the Tennessee stories and rare scenic features that make it a one-of-a-kind road trip.
