When:
September 14, 2012 @ 11:30 pm – September 15, 2012 @ 1:30 am
Monroe Area Council for the Arts  will present The Secret Sisters at the Hiwassee College Auditorium in Madisonville on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
The Secret Sisters are real life sisters Laura and Lydia Rogers from Muscle Shoals, Alabama whose vocal harmonies have been compared to the Everly Brothers. They have recorded with T Bone Burnett and Jack White, toured the world, and walked the black carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games, which includes their haunting folk ballad Tomorrow Will Be Kinder.
Since releasing their debut, The Secret Sisters, in 2010, the girls have been on a whirlwind world tour and performed with some of music’s greatest stars, such as Elvis Costello and Jakob Dylan.
Tomorrow Will Be Kinder fits with the pure harmonies of bluegrass, folk, mid-Sixties pop and classic country on their debut. Once word got out of the song’s association with The Hunger Games, a new demographic suddenly became intensely interested in the Secret Sisters. “It’s given us an opportunity to reach a much younger crowd, because our music naturally attracts an older crowd,” said Laura. The next album will be recorded in either Nashville or Los Angeles.
The Secret Sisters will be accompanied by the Pine Hill Haints, a southern roots music band who are also from Alabama.
Advance tickets are $18/adults and all student tickets are $10.
