Encore Theatrical & Walters State to hold auditions for “Singin’ in the Rain”
MORRISTOWN- Auditions will be held for Encore Theatrical Company and Walters State Community College’s production of “Singin’ in the Rain.” Encore and WaltersState are pleased to team together again to bring this class musical to life to open the 2012 Season!
You remember the plot. You love the characters. You know “the song.” It’s no less than the stage adaptation of one of the most celebrated and beloved films of all time. 1920′s Hollywoodis the setting for this zany, light-hearted romantic comedy about the early days of sound film, when many a movie studio found itself scrambling to salvage the career of its chipmunk-voiced silent picture star.
The MGM classic has been faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original award-winning screenplay. Each unforgettable scene, song and dance, is accounted for, including the show stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score ofHollywood standards make “Singin’ in the Rain” the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
The production team is looking to cast the musical and will hold auditions on Thursday, January 12 and Friday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Walters State Community College located at 500 S. Davy Crockett Parkway in Morristown.
Each person wishing to audition should prepare a song (preferably musical theatre style). Please bring a copy of the sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Everyone auditioning will take part in a brief dance and movement audition. Please have comfortable clothes to move in. Some will also be asked to read scenes from the musical. No appointment is necessary and those auditioning will be seen in order they sign up at the audition.
The cast consists of 2 Lead Males, 2 Lead Females, 6 Featured Males, 4 Featured Females, 2 Young Boys ages 9-12, and an ensemble of dancers and singers. For a breakdown of parts available, please visit www.etcplays.org
