Louie Bluie Festival Showcases Craft Vendors, Artists, and Quilters

The Louie Bluie Music & Arts Festival is Saturday, September 29 — a Fall festival, with the anticipation of pleasant temperatures and all the colors that nature bestows on the Cumberland Mountains surrounding Cove Lake State Park, in Caryville, TN ( just a mile off I-75 at exit 134).

Organizers are accepting craft vendor applications for space, and the deadline for a discounted vendor fee is Saturday, July 14.  Pay only $40 if application with fee is postmarked no later than this date. One of the benefits of early registration guarantees the vendor’s name and a photo of their craft on the festival website where it remains until the 2013 festival.

Visit  www.louiebluie.org for information about applications and vendor deadlines.

Quilters may enter their quilts for the festival judging & exhibit Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm at The Quilt Patch, 2221 Jacksboro Pike (Food City Center) LaFollette, TN.  Fee per quilt is only $5. Written criteria used for judging is returned with each entry. Quilt categories and entry details are on the website, or email Quilt Committee chair Sue Gafford at lsgaff1033@msn.com.

Amateur adult and youth artists creating both two and three dimensional visual art will enter the festival’s judged art & exhibit on Friday, Sept. 28 at the Pavilion at the state park. New this year will be the use of pre-printed judges score sheets which will be returned with each entry. Judges this year are Jered Sprecher, Assoc. Professor of Art, University of Tennessee, and Bryan Wilkerson, Assoc. Professor of Art & Design, Roane State Community College.

Entry fees are $10 per entry for adult artists and $5 for youths age 19 or less. Check out the categories, rules and guidelines on the website, or Email Karen Cumorich, Art Competition Chair, at kcumorich@peoplepc.com, for more information.

All entries in art and quilts will be exhibited at the festival Saturday, 11 to 5:30 pm.
