PRESENTS FALL CONCERT NOVEMBER 12

 – Saint-Saens’ Bacchanale to be performed by Youth Orchestra

KNOXVILLE, TN – October 23, 2012 – The Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra Association will present their first performance of the 2012- 2013 season on Monday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m., at the Tennessee Theatre.

The FREE concert will feature performances from all five of the orchestras in the Association: Preludium Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Sinfonia Orchestra, Youth Chamber Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra.

The Association’s most experienced musicians, the Youth Orchestra, a full symphonic orchestra led by Music Director James Fellenbaum, will perform Bedrich Smetana’s Ma Vlast and Camille Saint-Saens’ Danse Bacchanale.

The concert opens with the Preludium Orchestra, consisting of beginning string players, under the baton of Erin Archer playing Jeremy Woolstenhulme’s Yee Haw and Lauren Bernofsky’s Double Trouble. Under the baton of Katie Hutchinson The Philharmonia Orchestra, consisting of string players with a minimum of one to two years orchestral experience, will play three pieces including A Pirate’s Legend by Soon Hee Newbold. The first movement of Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished” will be played by the Sinfonia, string players with at least three years of instrumental experience, led by conductor Kathy Hart-Reilly. They will also perform works by Elena Roussanova and Gioachino Rossini.
