LECTURE
Artist Karen Shaw will lecture on the Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 in Room 109 of the Art and Architecture Building (Circle Park Drive).
Karen Shaw has been showing her work professionally for over 35 years and has been included in exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe and Central America. Her most recent one- person show was in Paris last spring. Shaw has received several grants, among them a National Endowment Fellowship and a New York State Council Individual Artist Grant. Her work is part of numerous private and public collections including the Herbert Johnson Museum of Cornell University, The Vera List Gallery of the New School, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and the Museum of Modern Art in New York .
Karen Shaw is not new to Knoxville. She has been a visiting artist at the Webb School and twice was an artist in resident at The University of Tennessee. She has also taught at Princeton University, Moore College of Art and Design and in the CUNY University system.
Almost as long as she has been a professional artist, Shaw has also served as curator for the Islip Art Museum and Carriage House, a small museum dedicated to contemporary art and installation on Long Island, New York.
