Girls Inc. will host the first annual Father/Daughter bluegill fishing tournament on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Hamblen County Marina from 10 a.m. to noon.
Any girl ages 9 – 13 is invited, along with a parent, to bring your boat, fishing gear, and lifejackets and join the tournament sponsored by Bullet Boats.
Pre-registration is required for the two person team. Registration fees are $50 per team and will be limited to the first 50 teams who register before May 26th. You can register at Girls Inc. on 301 Sulphur Springs Road or call 423-581-4430 for more information.
The event will begin with check-in at 9:00 a.m. on the Hamblen County Marina dock. Boaters may launch from any nearby ramp and meet at the dock for tournament check-in and instructions. All boaters and participants must abide by all tournament and TWRA rules. Boats must have all US Coast Guard required safety equipment.
The tournament, directed by Sam Phillips of Morristown Marine, will begin at 10:00 a.m. and weigh in will be at 12:00 noon. Trophies, compliments of Morristown Marine, will be awarded to the top teams. Other contests will continue at the pavilions in Cherokee Park while lunch is provided by Food City and the Girls Inc. Board.
Proceeds from the tournament will help Girls Inc. to continue to provide informal educational and recreational activities to all girls ages 6 – 18.
Tournament Chairperson, Nancy Guillen, invites all girls ages 9-13 to team up with their dads and join tournament. “We have about twenty teams of Girls Inc. members ready to show their fishing talents by bringing the most bluegill and are looking for some competition.”
Once again the tournament will be limited to the first 50 teams registered, so call 581-4430 today to insure your spot to help Girls Inc. to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
