Ramsey House was built in 1797 for Francis Alexander Ramsey and his family. Col. Ramsey was one of the founding fathers of the Knoxville area and played and important roll in the establishment of religion, education and government. Historic Ramsey House was known at the time as the “finest home” in Tennessee. Today it stands proud to its tradition and is beautifully decorated with period pieces that can give a visitor a look into the past at how the Ramsey Family lived.
Admission to the event is a $5 parking fee. Tours of the home will be conducted by docents in period dress and will be available for $5 per person. All proceeds from this event go toward continuing our mission to educate, preserve, and interpret the history and cultural life of early Tennessee and the important role of the Ramsey family.
