When:
May 18, 2012 @ 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

New York Times bestselling author -   Mary Alice Monroe

will be in Kingsport, Tennessee, on Friday, May 18, 2012 for a luncheon as part of her book tour for

Beach House Memories, which is her new novel and the prequel to her bestseller The Beach House. The event will be held at

MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center – Kingsport, Tennessee, and the luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m.

East Tennessee is very fortunate to have Monroe visit the area as part of her book tour for a coastal-themed novel. The Mother’s Day themed literacy luncheon will benefit the Literacy Council of Kingsport (LCK), a ProLiteracy Worldwide affiliate and a member agency of the United Way of Greater Kingsport.

“I actually know Mary Alice, and because she also incorporates factual information throughout her novels, she has endorsed my two children’s books, The Santa Train Tradition and Festus and His Fun Fest Favorites,” said local author, board member and past president of LCK, Leigh Anne W. Hoover. “When I spoke at the Tennessee Association of School Librarian’s (TASL) Conference, I was able to share her first children’s book, Turtle Summer. Since then, she also has another children’s book, A Butterfly Called Hope, about monarch butterflies coming out, and she has over 12 novels in her current body of work.”

The special event is sponsored by Citizens Bank, Eastman and Seasons, a division of Holston Medical Group. Monroe will speak, take Q&As from the audience, and following the luncheon, she will also sign books.

Advanced registration is required, and tickets are limited. The new novel will be sold in conjunction with ticket sales prior to her appearance. Plated luncheon tickets, which include a hardback copy of the new novel, are just $50. There is also a luncheon only ticket available for $35.
