Action-Packed Fishing, Live Music on Tap for Bassmaster Elite Series Douglas Lake Challenge

Not much in life is free, but there’s no cost to attend the Bassmaster Elite Series Douglas Lake Challenge, featuring the Evan Williams Bourbon Concert Series performance by Bush Hawg.

B.A.S.S. will host the Douglas Lake Challenge in Dandridge,  May 3–6, the fourth of eight Bassmaster Elite Series professional bass fishing tournaments scheduled in 2012.

The contest pits 99 of the top bass anglers in the world against one another, including fishing legend Kevin VanDam and 2012 Bassmaster Classic champion Chris Lane, as they compete for the $100,000 first prize and a coveted spot in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic set for Feb. 22-24, 2013, in Tulsa, Okla.

Local anglers competing for the $100,000 prize include Bassmaster Elite anglers Brandon Card of Caryville,  Ott DeFoe of Jefferson City and David Walker of Sevierville.

Following the weigh-in on Sat., May 5, the Evan Williams Bourbon Concert Series performance by RCA Recording artists Bush Hawg will take place at The Point Resort in Dandridge.

Other activities set to take place throughout the Douglas Lake Challenge tournament weekend include on the water demonstration boat tours with brands such as Mercury Power of Champions, Yamaha’s 2012 Discover VMAX SHO and Nitro.

6:30 a.m.              Full field of anglers launch in from The Point Marina. Public launch-viewing availble at 122 Boatdock Dr. in Dandridge.

3:15 p.m.             Official Douglas Lake Challenge weigh-in takes place both days at The Point Resort.

Sat., May 5         

6:30 a.m.              Top 50 anglers launch for semi-finals of Douglas Lake Challenge

1 p.m.                   Douglas Lake Challenge venue opens at The Point Resort; weigh-ins commence mid-afternoon

5  p.m.                  Evan Williams Bourbon Concert Series featuring Bush Hawg at The Point Resort

Sun., May 6

6:30 a.m.  Top 12 anglers launch for the final day of Douglas Lake Challenge competition.

Noon. Douglas Lake Challenge venue opens at The Point Resort; final weigh-ins commence mid-afternoon.

Other activities planned throughout the Douglas Lake Challenge weekend include the opportunity to pose questions to Elite Series pros and learn tips and techniques from some of the best bass anglers in the world.
