5th Annual Armed Forces Day

In honor of National Armed Forces Day, Tennessee’s Community Assistance Corporation’s Making Veterans Priority (MVP) program is hosting a community day at Cherokee Park in Morristown,  in appreciation all of the men and women in the armed forces including the local Tennessee National Guard 190th Engineer Company who recently returned from Afghanistan.

Festivities will begin with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the Citizen Tribune Jefferson Federal Amphitheatre, followed by live entertainment and numerous family activities. Special guests include local military and political dignitary appearances. Activities include free door prizes, raffle prizes, auction prizes, a Children’s Fun Zone, kid’s crafts and face painting. Live entertainment will continue on stage throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music.

Exhibitor booths will include military recruiters, veterans organizations , educational, employment, churches and nonprofits. Food and product vendors will be set up near the Hale-Matney Pavillion.

Tennessee is home to more than 501,907 Veterans and Service Members. Together we need to recognize the contributions these Veterans, Services Members, and their families have made to our country. We want to recognize the long separations and hardships they endure to protect our freedom
