23rd Annual Morristown Charity Horse Show Oct 5-7
October 5, 2012 @ 10:00 pm – October 6, 2012 @ 12:00 am
The 23rd Annual Morristown Charity Horse Show will be held October 5 – 7th at the Walters State Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center. Show hours are Friday, October 5 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Saturday, October 6 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 at 11 a.m.
The show has over 100 classes featuring American Saddlebred, Hackney Ponies and Standard bred horses. Nearly every state in the Southeast will be represented.
Roadster horse classes are always a crowd pleaser. These classes feature Hackney ponies and Standard bred horses. Many of the Standard bred horses have been retired from the race track, but still race around the show ring with the driver or rider wearing colorful racing silks.
Babies are always a crowd favorite and the future stars of the show ring. The Tennessee Futurity will feature weanlings (less than one year old), yearlings and 2 year old shown in hand. The futurity classes are always one of the first classes on Friday and Saturday nights at 6pm.
On Saturday night the show starts with a bang, it is our stick horse class where we encourage children who attend to bring their favorite stick horse to show. If a child does not own a stick horse, the girls in the sewing class at Girls Inc. have made several that will be available, at the show, for a small adoption fee.
There is no admission charge for spectators and is great entertainment for the whole family. This year’s corporate sponsors are Alcoa-Howmet, Bible Insurance Agency, ColorTech, Howard’s Pharmacy, and Jefferson Federal Bank. The media sponsor is WCRK/WMTN.
All Proceeds from the 2012 show will be donated to Girls Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Girls Inc. serves girls ages 6-18 from Hamblen and surrounding counties with informal educational and recreational activities.
