KNOXVILLE – Emergency Medical Service (EMS) educators have selected Knoxville to host the 2013 Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Education Association (TEMSEA) Conference, an annual event bringing EMS educators together to learn about new teaching techniques and tools to take back to the classroom. The conference is set for July 24 – 26, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Knoxville.

“The Tennessee EMS Education Association is excited about coming to Knoxville,” said David Blevins, 2013 Conference Committee Co-Chair.  “As a statewide organization, bringing TEMSEA to Knoxville allows us to have our quality educators together in a great city that offers a wide-range of activities for our members and their families.”

The conference brings EMS pre-hospital personnel from the entire state of Tennessee to Knoxville as well as firefighters, safety officers, registered nurses, high school health science teachers, and police officers. The conference focuses on safety for EMS personnel because of the rise in violence to EMS personnel while saving lives.

“We are thrilled to have the TEMSEA 2013 Conference in Knoxville next summer,” said Kim Bumpas, President of Visit Knoxville. “Attendees from across the state will travel to Knoxville for this event, and we are excited to showcase the attractions, arts and entertainment, restaurants and shopping that make our part of the state so unique.”

TEMSEA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make every Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) successful in their day to day journeys in the field of EMS. In 2012, the state of Tennessee celebrates 40 years of Emergency Medical Services. In 2013, TEMSEA continues to share the need for EMS in every county and, through instruction, help make this training successful.

The organization works diligently to provide the most information available to all EMS personnel so they may take back to their county the continuing standard of excellence in patient care and community awareness.
